week 5, run 3 shows as straight 20 minutes. is this correct. i'm on week 3 and that looks ominous....

Don't you worry, it is correct but you will be ready for it. I think many of us were a bit daunted by this one and wondered how the heck we were going to do it, but it is ok, really, it is ok. Just take it nice and steady, the programme will have got you ready for it. Don't look too far ahead ! Let us all now how it goes.

I am at this stage also, did w5r2 today and was ok so I'm trying to keep feeling good about that for a couple of days! I'm planning to do r3 on Saturday so we are in the same boat. Thanks for above response, it really helps.

There's a reason they say not to look too far ahead! I am starting week 4 tomorrow and am hoping that if I just stick with the plan that I will be ready for it. Lots of others have been successful, so I'm counting on that. Although I'm supposed to run 5 minutes in a row tomorrow so we'll see how that goes : )

Good thing is, if you don't complete a run, you can always try again. No hard and fast rules. Just go at your own pace and keep coming back here for support.

Trust me, by the time you get to WK5 R3 you'll be ready. This program builds you up gradually, then throws a run like that at you, it leaves you thinking what the hell? But, when you come to run it all the work you will have done up to that point will see you through.

Doesn't it just? I felt like you do and posted accordingly. As everyone says, if you follow the program you are ready. I'm not saying it's a breeze but it wasn't torment either, and in fact I was bummed to have to go back to walk/run intervals in Week 6!

I felt exactly the same.......I am now on week 8 .......20 minutes straight seemed an impossible dream.....but believe in the training, you CAN do it.

Will power to keep going is the key!

I think the 20 minute run scared everyone, it is a HUGE jump. I know I was scared but now, I have 1 more run of the programme to go, I can say the same as everyone else. Follow the programme, trust in it and yourself, take it slow and steady and you will do it just like the rest of us. Good luck :)

I did week 5 run 3 on Tuesday. Didn't believe it was possible, but you know what, when Laura said I could do it I took her word for it and.....I did it! Trust the programme, keep steady and most importantly, trust yourself. Keep going right to the end, the sense of achievement is wonderful.

Thanks everyone for sharing! I'm about to start the c2 5K today and am getting motivated by reading of your experiences. I just got the news my cholesterol is 7.1 and I really want to get it down naturally if I can! This and the NHS weight loss plan are my strategies!

Completed Run 3 of Week 5 this evening, found the first 5 minutes to be the worst bit, because of just thinking about it being a longer run, however Laura was always there to help & I settled into it. When she told me I only had 5 minutes to go I actually relaxed and felt better about it. And, she was right, the sense of achievement is great!

I completed mine today and can wholeheartedly agree with all, it's the head that doubts but the body can do it! I never thought I'd do 20 mins as I was daunted by one minute in week one. But I did. You can do it!!!! Just follow the plan one run at a time.

I should be doing the week 5 run 3 20 minute run tomorrow, and i've been really apprehensive about it! I joined the forum just to read up on this, and it seems from all the comments that it really is do-able, so I shall give it a go. I remember worrying whether I could even keep going for 1 minute before I started, then I worried about 3 minutes! Yesterday when I did 8 minutes I felt I could have kept going for longer... so hopefully *fingers crossed* I'll get through it. I absolutely love this plan, and I'm really enjoying the running.
