I asked myself the same thing last week. I started getting a running nose on Tuesday but ran through it. I found that once I started running my nose tended to clear and even after my run my nose was clear for about an hour. I have a very tickly irritating cough now but managed a 3 mile run this morning.
My running club and a few of the other running information sites have a saying that if it's in the neck and above it's fine to run but if it's in the chest that you must rest.
My advice would be listen to your own body, if you are drained and fatigued from your cold take a couple of days rest otherwise you may make yourself worse.
Hope the cold shifts soon.
