Hi, I know how you must feel as I did something similar after week 2 the inside of my knee was sore to touch the day after my run I thought I would need to quit just as I had started. It did get better though, it took three weeks during which time I did a bit of easy cycling and swimming to try and keep active without making it worse. I also used a tubular elastic support for a few weeks after which seemed to help and gave a bit of extra support. It is fine now and I managed first run of week 8 tonight. I am no expert but I believe soft tissue damage if it is that can take a little longer to heal so probably better in the long run not to rush things. look after the knee and get some medical advice if need be I am sure in time it will be fine. All the best!
I get knee pain if I run on hilly ground (not when I am running its the next day) and no pain on the flat I am going to give up hills easy really I live on a flat Island Look after your knee they are complex joints !
