I'm thinking of getting a garmin when I have the money. I'd like to pay as little as possible, so it would be the forerunner 10. If you have one, where did you get it? (And just how expensive?). Direct from Garmin seems most expensive place!
Where did you buy your Garmin?: I'm thinking of... - Couch to 5K
Where did you buy your Garmin?
I also got the Forerunner 10 after a lot of price comparison between different websites. For me the cheapest was amazon.co.uk (and they were still the cheapest even after I opted to pay for quick delivery).
I'm thinking about the same. So will be interested to see the responses.
The cheapest reliable looking site I've found is (can I post links?) runonline.co.uk/shop/watche...
Also wondering which colour, decisions, decisions..
I got my FR10 from Tesco as I had a load of vouchers expiring that needed to be used up. I think the starting price was £90, before my discount. I did look on Ebay, but they seem to hold their price remarkably well, so I decided I was better off buying brand new. Tesco's are also giving £5 to Cancer Research UK if you happen to like the pink one!
I've been out twice with it, and I love it. It's a chunky little thing, but it's easy to see the numbers, so I know how long I have to keep going for without having to wait for Laura's voice, and I can see exactly how slow I am!
I almost went for a FR110, but after reading reviews here dcrainmaker.com/2012/08/gar... (they are excellent in-depth reviews on all Garmins and similar equipment) I was convinced that the FR10 was a better fit for me as I I wouldn't mess about with a HR monitor once the novelty had worn off.
If anyone wants to add me to their Garmin list, look for Cookiedoodle. I'm on W6R2 and determined to be a proper runner one day!
Plinth, inky's website is cheaper than amazon by 4 pounds.
amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00...
We have a leader!
I got mine from
burrowsgps.co.uk/garmin-for...
I did get the FR110 as the price at that time was the same as for a FR10 elsewhere.
I think it's Free P & P too.
There is this website handtec.co.uk/satnav-gps/ru...
which has it for £75.48 + £1.99 for delivery by royal mail - the £62.90 price excludes VAT. I don't know why I'm unsure about it, probably because they appear so much cheaper. They have a UK address and I think you can pay through amazon or paypal so should be ok.
Amazon had the Green one on for £78 last week. I've not graduated yet and just got new trainers, so think I'm going to hang back for a couple weeks. Unless I see a deal and get impulsive.
Amazon's excellent record on returns would sway may everytime...
Returned my Garmin 210 after 11 1/2 months because it because flamin' annoying.
Do you have any running events that you plan to attend? If so, you may find that you get a voucher for a local sports shop. I got my Garmin using a 10% (or was it a 15%) discount voucher for a local shop and it worked out the same price as the cheapest I could find online. Plus it supported the local shop.
I got mine from Amazon.co.uk but I waited until the price was right by tracking the item using camelcamelcamel.co.uk it's a website that tracks previous amazon prices and you can even get it to tell you when the price drops. Opened my eyes to amazon daily pricing policy.
Thanks for that link Phil72, I have just had a look and it looks a handy little website to know about.
