I am at the end of week 7, and have developed shin pain which is probably shin splints. I really don't want to stop running, what can I do?

I went for a gait analysis and bought proper running shoes weeks ago. I have been running on grass, but ran on the track at the beginning of the week, which I think caused the pain.

My understanding is that if it really is shin splints you'll have to rest up or risk damage to the tibia and surrounding tissue. But my 'shin splints' wears off during a run, meaning it's not really shin splints, it's just tightness, so I run through it. If there were damage to the leg there would just be more pain the longer I ran.

Good luck- try icing it a bit- hope it's not the dreaded shin splints.

Get properly assessed for decent shoes, rest, stretching etc. I had horrific pain, tested up and got decent shoes. All gone now and I ran 15k on Sunday!!
