Week 1 run 2... wondering if I really can do it

I thought I was kind of fit as I was going to the gym, played tennis, badminton, etc. Well ok not as regular as I wanted but as much as I could.... but doing this running... I have pain in every single bit of my legs ๐Ÿ˜… and even if I really want to give it a try I cannot believe I can run more than one minute together. Just day 2 of my run but it is hard to believe I can archive more

Did you feel like that and then you finally completed?. Give me some hope ๐Ÿ˜…

Yep it's pretty standard to feel like that in the beginning.

Slow steady progress is the key, and rest days.

Yes, you can do this. Just remember it is not a race. Find a pace that works for you and don't worry if you have to slow down. The important thing is to keep going for the planned time. Leave, at least, one day to recover between runs. I found Week 2 really hard. I've just finished week 7 and I can't understand now why week 2 should have been so difficult for me. Good luck, and enjoy the running.

This is totally my experience but I graduated 2 weeks ago and now running 5K. Keep going it does get easier. Make sure you are well hydrated before you run as that can help with leg pains x

You CAN do this. It is hard. I remember my hardest run - week 2. Keep pushing yourself because you absolutely can do it. I definitely felt the same as you did. Donโ€™t give yourself a hard time, itโ€™s meant to be pushing you. You have already done it twice so believe in yourself. Slow and steady. Deep breathes and lots of stretches. Let us know how you get on.

I just started week 3 today, and altho i was kind of looking forward to it, I was mostly worried about having to run 3 minutes straight! 90 seconds seemed like my absolute limit the other day! It was hard, but it got easier into the run and when I slowed my pace down a bit, my legs have hurt in all different places but that also is getting easier. Stretch afterwards tho. You totally can do It.

I guess that body will start getting used to it. I know what you mean... thinking day week 2 you have to increase minutes and week 3 and 4... and now I am in day 2 and I cannot move my legs after the session ๐Ÿ˜…. But I guess it is a good feeling ...

Of course you can do it! ๐Ÿ˜€ Slow right down to a gentle light jogette! It is fine to run at walking pace! You are probably used to dashing around the tennis court quickly-but this is different, much much slower. Give yourself time to adapt. Post how you are doing & we will cheer for you. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I couldnโ€™t believe how hard 60 seconds was ! ..the Aโ€™s each week passes I still couldnโ€™t comprehend the end ....you will find some runs hard and others easier. You can and will do this.

Definitely felt like that several times, just have faith in the plan. The first week was definitely the hardest, but I graduated on Monday and ran 5k tonight. Take it steady and don't try to go too fast. As your name says - you can do this!

The guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... has advice on minimising impact and stretching after every run, which can reduce the aches and pains.

The early weeks are hard. I remember really being aware of my leg muscles getting stronger with every run. You need to stay really determined mentally to complete each run. I found the later weeks, when it was just running, with no walks in between, to be a fair bit easier. Iโ€™ve now just completed my 5th consolidation run and doing 5km in 30 mins. I find listening to upbeat, good old feel good songs, to be useful. Good luck, the feeling at the end of every run is great x

Iโ€™m due to do my week 1 run 2 tomorrow (Fri 12/4) and I feel like you. Just about completed run 1 yesterday but it was hard. I really do want to be fitter and am hoping yesterday wasnโ€™t a one off. Good luck.
