Quick question! How do we feel about taking energy drinks/ stimulation drinks before a run??? Do we find they help? I had a small can before finishing off week 7 tonight and felt I could run for miles ! Thoughts guys? Week 8 on Monday woohoo!!

I never drink them myself- I'm very wary! There have been a few incidents with some dodgey stimulants, runners and heart arrhythmias! I'm sure if you're sticking with popular brands you'll be fine but I avoid them. Sometimes wish I did drink them though! Would be amazing to have the boost.

Don't agree with these energy drinks before a run, they have been known to be dangerous too. I was thinking of taking one on my long route today but decided if I ran out of energy I would eat a hand full of nuts/raisins/sultanas etc. I only ever drink a mug of green tea and glass of water before a run. Tonic water with lime or dilute orange juice added after sometimes to help prevent leg cramps.
I find that if I drink anything like that before a run, I just feel bloated and end up burping my way through my run. Nobody needs to witness that!
Be careful with stimulants.. You are better off Ruth water and then an energy drink after 90 minutes of running. You don't want to trick your body into doing more and ending in injury.
