Well, after treating myself to an extra rest day on Sunday, I went out last night for the final run of W7 and this was another run where I felt myself struggling at around the 20 minute mark.... I have now put this down to this run having a few more firsts too;
first run in this mini heat-wave we are having & luckily the canal has plenty of shady sections - so I can get out of the direct sun.
first run where I didn't want to just stop at the first beer garden despite all those lovely ice cold pints I could swear each one of them was calling my name...
first run in shorts & ouch are they supposed to rub up there like that?.... will ask question about them later.
But then when I turned the corner and with the sun on my back & my shadow stretched out infront of me, it was a great opportunity to remind myself just how far I have come. From the first few weeks where getting upto 3 mins was a massive challenge - right upto now where I had just done 20mins and only had 5mins left
And now look at me - well, more like me looking at my shadow, keeping my head still & no bouncing around, feet looking good pounding the tarmac (which feels softer here than it does on the roads) and I'm not really out of breath any more either - 5 mins - pah you're not going to defeat me!
I knew what was coming. "finish strong" says Laura - I dug in and went for it again - one minute of running happy & with a grin a mile wide I had done it - made it through to the end.
So there that was W7, which is now crossed off my wall-chart and deleted from my phone and with a gulp and reliasation that means there is just 2 weeks left. This is definitely do-able!
Happy Running everyone.
