Name of copd nurses?

Recently as I was due to be released from hospital I was seen by not copd nurses but Swiss nurses ? I'm assuming this is just another change of name involving pay grade ir is it in reference to the Swiss clinics in early 20th century that specialised in respitory illnesses. ? Anyone else come across these nurses .

not heard this however the nurse I saw who worked in respiratory told me that the newer nurses are not clued up on what we need? That’s weird right?

Hmmmm. I wonder if the ‘Swiss’ nurses you saw were from the agency ? Other than that I haven’t heard of them.

This is what a "Swiss Nurse" is all about.

Background: Respiratory disease is a major factor in ‘winter pressures’ in the NHS, with twice as many respiratory admissions occurring in December compared to August.

Over the last seven years across the North of England, respiratory admissions have risen over three times faster than the rate of other conditions - 36.6% vs 11.1.%.

The introduction of a respiratory nurse specialist within the emergency department (ED) was proposed to provide care for patients presenting to hospital with a respiratory condition to help alleviate such pressure.

Aims: The aim of the Swiss nurse is to:

Avoid unnecessary admissions during winter pressures and support patients back into the community setting for a minimum of 3 days post discharge follow up.

Prevent readmission to the hospital by providing ongoing support within the community setting irrespective of area of residence.

Provide equitable care for all patients to reduce health inequalities.

Organisation of long term chronic disease management follow up and optimisation of care.

that’s a laugh - I have serious COPD and need NIV machine as a carbon retainer.

Despite numerous Hospital emergency ‘visits’ I have not seen hide or hair of any doctor since my last hospital ‘visit’.

I am not looking forward to my next exasperation if that’s what it takes to see anyone without passing out.

At 87 years old I do not enjoy this silent treatment- even ‘tho DNR is on my medical records. My wife has to insist they give me the option of a reply.

Anyway - I think it may be better than seeing one of the numerous 16 year old females ‘man’ning the picket lines.

Sad.
