Don't worry mate, we all think that, upon confirmation! Shit happens, I am afraid.

Your life has changed forever and you have to come to terms with it and realize it is not always a death sentence.

I know people on this site whom still smoke, rest as much as you can, ultimately, accept it, or it WILL kill you.

Good luck

Mild to moderate COPD with a good diet and regular exercise is a lot better, in the way you feel and longevity, than many that are very overweight, eat a crappy diet, and lay around on a couch.

Hi, it is a real shock when you are diagnosed with COPD, just be positive I know it’s hard but keep taking the medication and have regular chest examinations and scans, you as a professional in your field, there are helpful professionals also in the COPD field make an appointment with one of these individuals they will give you a phone number to contact them when you think that you are becoming overwhelmed by your condition they are very helpful most are nurse practitioners so are able to dispenser medication and have a direct line to consultants in their field so you don’t have to go to your GP as they specialise in COPD. All the best, you are not alone there are plenty of us out there and this forum helps to realise that.

I like this these are the things we need to see to give us a fair balance

So glad you joined the group. We've all heard that diagnosis & remember our initial reactions. Reading many past posts helps to assure us that we're not in this alone & that life goes on even with having copd. Here is the place you'll receive support, encouragement & advice. I hope you have a good pulmonary doctor. Exercising, drinking a lot if water & making good food choices are things that are helpful in keeping us healthy. Pls keep us udated in how you're doing.

Yes like everyone is saying. Mild is not that bad. Just make sure you keep taking your meds! And i still smoke. Not to smart on my part. I was diagnosed 10 years ago with copd and heart failure. But my copd is still mild. I believe. Take care.
