hi all, I am meant to be having a valve replaced this week. I have COPD but the surgeon has said he’s very happy to carry out the operation.

It’s my head that’s wrong, I know what my COPD can be like, however, before the valve problem I had a decent life even with COPD.

I’ve been trying to find someone’s who’s had the op with COPD- this would totally put my mind at rest

Thanks all

what kind of valve? Are you concerned about the anesthesia or the valve replacement itself?

aorta valve and the only thing I’m concerned with is my COPD if it wasn’t for that I’d be much better

Thanks

What is your main concern about your COPD in relation to the surgery, is it going under anesthetic?

Best to ask your pulmonologist. It is possible your surgeon has done this procedure on COPD patients similar to your COPD.When I had an operation, I made sure the anesthesiologist knew.....as they are the most important part of the equation.
