Diagnosis of emphysema 14 months ago. No real advice given. Told it is mild to severe. Apart from being active what else can I do to slow down this disease. Are there any specific breathing exercises that are good to adopt. I have read a fair amount online but it is not that helpful. Advice from someone with the condition would be great

Hi there, it is good to see you here . Sorry that you weren’t given much advice, sadly that is not uncommon.
The best thing to do really is to learn, educate yourself about Emphysema ( COPD ) The Asthma + Lung U.K. have lots of information and this forum is a good source of information and support too.
Everyone is an individual so we all find slightly different ways of self managing this condition.
Asthma + Lung U.K. have a care plan template which you can take a look at to help you choose what is relevant for you.
I am certain that will be along later to offer you specifics to help you stay as well as possible.
Keep well and stay in touch.
I would suggest watching YouTube videos on breathing techniques/exercises such as Pursed Lip Breathing and Diaphragmatic Breathing. Watching someone demonstrate is so much better than reading a few paragraphs and hoping you get it right.
........also, find videos on how to properly use the specific inhalers you are using. 2/3's of people using inhalers are not using them correctly.
There is a device on Amazon called a Power Breathe that I use. I probably need to use it more. I was given a severe diagnosis as well with no advice. It’s crazy. Advocate for yourself.
