36 year old with Asthma/COPD

Was diagnosed with Asthma/COPD Overlap (ACOS) in 2019. I am only 36 and it took over 3 years to get a diagnosis, cause the consultants couldn't believe, at my age I had COPD.

I am using a Trimbow inhaler (3 therapy inhaler LAMA/LABA/Steroid). I also have rescue inhaler.

Only 3 years of having ACOS my breathing is stable, but now i have to stop halfway up stairs to catch my breath, 6 months ago, I never had to do that.

Was anyone diagnosed at this age? I feel getting diagnosed young that I wont ready older age?

Hi zedrick007 I was in my mid 40s when I was diagnosed with COPD/Asthma. I was a single parent with 4 children and my own business. Don’t let your diagnosis define you. I am now 73, retired, my children are grown up and I have 7 grandchildren. There is life after diagnosis. Take care Barbsx

Great comments and advice for you so far!A tip to help you navigate the dreaded stair climb:

Go slow. Take your time. Exhale AS you take steps up; Stop and inhale; Repeat.

A way to remember, "Exhale when Exerting".

Best to you,

John

Also of huge importance is pulmonary therapy. These are specific exercises - very low key - that will help build your breathing and core muscles to help you slow the disease. It used to be you would get this prescribed by your doctor and then attend the classes at the local rehab. But with the current situation or even if you want to do it on your own there are u tube showing these and there are many articles from well known health sites that mention them to make sure you get the right ones. .Yoga might help also. Remember these are not work outs like you do at a gym although I am sure those would help too.
