Home oxygen support

Apols if this has been covered, but my 87y/o mum keeps ping ponging out of hospital because of recurrent chest infections linked to what has been diagnosed as COPD.

SATs collapsed to 47 the second evening she was home on 1litre oxygen so readmitted. Stable in hospital on 3 lites of oxygen with SATs around 88, but that’s sitting in bed doing nothing and she’s active with a frame at home.

Question: as a family we support her lots, but we need to be confident that she has the right support when sent home. Does this have to be trial and error or has anyone experienced something with more certainty and predictability?

Thanks for listening.

When i went to er with breathing problems they had me walk around with a oxygen sensor on my finger and pulling a tank that the adjusted with a nurse watching sensor to determine how much oxygen i needed to be active.
