Do those who check their fev1 levels have big differences in the morning vs. night?

Hi again y'all.

I have noticed ... at least with my monitor... that my fev1 varies (sometimes drastically) when I check it in the morning, then again at night. Is this normal?

I mean I'm not blowing in this thing constantly, but wanted an idea of my levels during the day. So I have checked for a week now, and that is what happened. :o

Curious about it.

Thanks!!

Phyllis

Pre-transplant, I would check my FEV1 / Peak Flow readings mostly for the Peak Flow reading. This would help me to determine my need for albuterol nebulizer treatments. These readings varied from day to day. My FEV 1 remained basically the same unless I had an infection or pneumonia. They declined over a five year period from 1.52 to .80. Post-transplant we are required to take our FEV 1 at the same time each morning, preferably about 9:00. Consecutively, we do three blows ONLY - never more. We record the best blow of the three. Mine now average between 2.64 - 2.72. I'm 5'8", 140 lbs,, age 60, and female. (Your numbers are determined by those factors, so don't panic when comparing - I made that mistake one time and thought I was doing terrible, but I was comparing same numbers but he was a guy - big difference!)
