hey ! A 98% O2 sat is great ! in the 1st stagesof COPD is not at all unusual. it can stay that way for along time . follow your Dr.'s advice on EVERYTHING ! make sure you exercise ( as Dr allows of course !) DO NOT SMOKE !!! STAY AWAY FROM 2ND HAND SMOKE AND ALL IRRITANTS ! you may keep your sats good for many years by doing this, just live a common sense healthy life. eat right, get plenty of sleep and exercise. GOOD LUCK TO YOU !

Hello Lucyloose

I'm commenting on this because you said stay away from second-hand smoke well I've had COPD for about 12 years, I've had numerous bouts with chronic bronchitis and I've had walking pneumonia twice in which those life-threatening infections have left my lungs scarred, fractured ribs in one of my lungs collapse from coughing so violently. This COPD is a serious life-threatening disease,... I stopped smoking the moment my doctor diagnosed me with COPD however recently young couple moved two doors away from me in my apartment building and everyone in that apartment smokes heavilyall for adults, itcomes through the air vents and it bothers me a lot whenever I start smelling smoke I put on my mask.( by the way I'm not on oxygen yet, but the doctor said if I keep getting sick in which it damages my lungs even more I will eventually be on oxygen) actually I've spoken to my manager about this and she's trying to get the people out of the building.... I like to ask you a question do the weather ever stop you from going out such as when it's very hot outside red Code Orange code yellow code, does it make you difficult to breathe? How about women really cold outside 30 or below? If it's too hot it bothers me and if its 30 or below I try not to even go out if I do I'm getting in a car and I keep my mouth wrapped up. Please feel free to hit me back whenever you can I really appreciate you allowing me to share

You're probably measuring it with an oximeter which measures it by the darkness of the blood cells passing the light. Which is a good indicator. The most accurate way to measure it for the respiratory pepole to do an Arterial Blood Gas draw.

Because it depends on how much oxygen is getting through your system. It depends on how bad your lungs are? What stage is your COPD Angela? What inhalers are you on? What pain medicines are you on?

Your oxygen level is great. Just exercise, follow Dr orders and you should be fine for a long time. I wish you well. My ox is around88 without being on ox. I wish they caught my issue sooner

Hi, you are doing great, don't worry about it, just keep living life the best you can. As others have said exercise will keep the lungs strong. Make sure you are drinking lots of water and take your meds as instructed. Doing everything you are suppose to do will keep it from progressing faster.

Does it drop when you're active?

My oxygen stats run about like yours as long as i have the oxygen but after you take it off for a while it will probably run a little lower. I went to my doctor yesterday and they tested my stat level it was between 95 and 98 but after they had me shut it off it was running around 75 and 80 was sure glad when they told me I could turn it back on.

Good luck and do what luckyloose told you.
