Portable Concentrators

For those of you who use a portable concentrator, were you able to adjust to the additional weight (5-6#) vs portable tanks (4#) carrying it on the shoulder?

Just got the new pic. Is it a big adjustment between carrying the tank. My new new pic is only 4 lbs

What adjustments in particular? Just weight? Also who makes it. I only found one, Inogen, at 4.8 pounds.

4.8 is with the smaller battery, and approx. 6 pounds with the larger battery

I use a backpack as it's too cumbersome dragging tanks. I cant' use a POC as it does not put out enough volume for me. good luck

As long as you sling it on one side and not over the head and the shoulder takes the weight rather than your neck, it does not become a problem. For walking my dogs , gardening or other work, and for long walks, my Inogen-3 has an optional backpack, which I love because you don't even notice the weight when it is in the backpack. And with the concentrator and one battery, I get 6-8 hours without recharging the battery.

Does the back pack cause any issues with your shoulders? It's fairly expensive, so I's like to get an idea of how it works before spending. I have recently gotten an Inogen-3.

No problems, once you adjust the straps to your particular size. I adjust the straps to place the unit as high on my back as possible, mainly because as a former avid hiker, it is the best method of wearing a backpack. The higher the weight is, the easier it is on both the back and shoulders.

my concentrator is on wheels and weighs approx 30 lbs. i use it as part of my exercise .. it's gotten easier to do things while attached to it.. my dogs are patient with me when taking them out..and everynow and then i will let someone else lift it in and out of a vehicle.. love the look of surprise on their faces at the weight of it..they feel better because they helped me and also got a small workout..and i glad to have someone else lift it.. as one family member stated.. portable is misnomer for this thing..There are times when i actually forget i'm hooked up to the beast until i catch the hose on something or my animals decide to sit on it ar play with it.. I'm waiting to see a specialist to see if i can get a smaller one..
