Urostomy advice

Hello!

My husband is about to have a urostomy surgery. He is scared, of course. He is 68 and needs the urostomy because of irreparable damage from post radiation strictures after prostate cancer treatment. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for someone about to go down this road. Any tips for recovery or adapting to having a stoma? The surgery will be done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Thank you in advance for any input!
