Hi All I do hope everyone is keeping Safe in these difficult times, I’m not sure if I’m jumping the gun on this but I had my emergency surgery at the end of January came out of hospital the 28th , unfortunately I got a bug and ended up back in hospital the middle of February with sepsis was very lucky and got out of hospital just before lockdown so have been at home.
My problem is I don’t seem to be able to get anything to thicken up I am still passing everything very watery , I am eating jelly babies, marshmallows taking 6 loperamide 4 times a day with 2 codeine also 2 Dioralyte a day anybody got any suggestions 🤷♂️
In anticipation thanks

Hi, some of it may depend on if you have had a colostomy or ileostomy. I have a ileostomy and if you have one of these then the output can be quite watery depending on what I eat. Also following advice from the Drs & ostomy nurses I do drink a lot to avoid dehydration so that contributes to watery output. I now use a Trio Pearls sachet which I put into the bag which helps to thicken up the output. In the UK it is available on prescription. However there are a number of different products that do the same thing. I came across a website veganostomy.ca/ NB you don't have to be a Vegan, there is loads of information about ileostomies, diets, product reviews etc. See veganostomy.ca/trio-ostomy-... Eric also has a Youtube channel.
One important thing to remember, we are all different so something that works for me might not work for you. In my experience a lot of manufacturers or suppliers of consumables will let you have samples so you can "taste & try before you buy"so to speak. The trio pearls was the second product I tried and liked.
Hi thanks very much for all your information I think you can’t get enough information because as you say everyone is different.
My daughter got on the internet and found that you should take the loperamide half an hour to an hour before you eat and don’t drink for the same time also don’t drink during your meal , doing that do excuse me but very excited I had solid poo 🥳.
Honestly the things you get excited about 😂, great talking and once again thanks.
