Hello Dave, which surgery did you have? Colostomy or Illeostomy? Is it permement or temporary? I am an illeostomist, had the follow up op now, panprocolenectomy, bum removal, and felt the same way as you for a long time after my first op a couple of years ago. My surgeon said it was not uncommon and generally things get back to normal, concerning appetite etc, after 18 months ish... I am now more back to normal, still a bit of what you are feeling, but it is changing. Hope this helps. Janey...

Dave go to Facebook and in search column put colostomy groups and join a couple there. I found them a great help, they are busy with questions and answers all day. There are British and foreign groups, even groups called gutted and butted lol, but all very helpful....Janey...

Hiya Guys.

Sorry you all are having or had many problems. With eating I'm 4 years on from a look Ileostomy and I still have periods of not wanting to eat so I don't. Don't miss the backend but the wind is a pain often. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids. I was told at least two litres a day which I did now don't. Being of the general older population the loo is busy nightly so I do one litre a day which is okay. I eat when I want but if I don't I will have a tin of soup or even a slice of bread.

Do you have a Stoma Nurse you can see or ring? They are great but I know many districts do not have them but you can travel out of your area if one is close by. Do you belong to the Ileostomy Association get great advice from them. Its Ten Pound a year to be a member and their magazines are full of advice like we are having now. You can also give them a ring for advice. Their is also another forum which I belong to which has stacks of info which comes from members like us.

Hope this help and also I wont get a rollicking for the links.
