Anyone with parastomal hernias ? Has it been fixed ?

I'm suffering another one , my third the repair lasts about a month last time I'm so sick of these now does anyone know a specialist for hernias , Thanks.

Sorry to hear your predicament. I struggled for many years with mine and was always obstructing . Lucky for me I ended up having a panproctocolectomy and my hernia repair 4 years ago and haven't looked back since .

Hello Hun I have a large perastomal hernia... My surgeon says that moving the stoma to the other side and repairing the hernia is often is a waste of time as there is an obvious weakness across the whole mid line therefore it occurs again and again... Keyhole meshing sometimes works but then again weakens the surrounding area sigh.... Unless my stoma is being pulled down due to the hernia he feels that supporting it and hoping it does not get any bigger,it is big now lol, is the best thing to do....I have an Illeostomy, also have the panproctocolectomy surgery, bum removed etc, and my hernia began about a year ago and although unsightly I think he is probably right and we will keep an eye on the stoma and just support the hernia in the meantime....
