I’m new. I’m 42 a new mom, of an 21 month old, and I am so worried sick. I’ve always been super healthy, but I have also never had regular bowel movements. I have always had a bowel movement every two or three days. My mom has the same issue, my nieces have the same issue, I was also previously told by my doctor 3 years ago that I had GERD, after I went in for excessive burping. That comes and goes, usually happens when I’m nervous. About 3 months ago I started changing my diet and only eating organic products, and started acupuncture. I started to get daily bowel movement, once a day. What scared me was last Thursday when I went to the bathroom I had blood, and it was a lot of blood. It was bright red, not it didn’t look like it was in the poop but it was in the toilet. There also seem to be some small blood clots. I got scared and flushed it before taking a picture. I don’t have any pain, or cramping, or experience any weight loss or anything. But this fear is killing me. Also I don’t know if it’s related but I have had right leg pain, it feels like a pulled muscle I’ve had that for a few weeks now, I stretch and it goes away, but now Google is my worst enemy. I’ve only had one episode of blood, but I’m so scared. No history of cancer in my family. I did immediately schedule a doctors appointment and it’s this Thursday. I just can’t get it out of my head that something is wrong and I can’t get out of google. Anyone ever have only one time bleed and it turned out to be okay?

hey good to hear your story. This forum has been comforting to me, lots of good stories and advice here. I’ll give you a background of me. About 8 months ago I started having blood streaks in my stool, never a lot but definitely streaks. I have had some mucus as well. I just turned 40 years old. I have a history of cancer in my family but not colon. I have been an alcoholic for most of my life and still am but I have been sober for ten months now. I have always eaten pretty terribly, and I have severe health anxiety so I have been really scared and doing the dr Google thing for awhile. Well I finally was able to get to a doc who did a digital exam. He said he felt like what he thought was internal hemmoroids but told me he wanted to do a colonoscopy on me since I’m 40 and have symptoms. SO this morning I completed my colonoscopy. It was a breeze, I didn’t feel anything or remember anything as I was fully asleep. The prep day was the worst part because you have to drink a lot of laxatives and can’t eat. I was pretty miserable by the end of the prep day. Doc found a polyp in my rectum and said he’s sure that was my bleeding source. It has been sent off for testing. Other than that he said my colon was clear. I was very hesitant and nervous for a colonoscopy but it was such a breeze procedure and is totally worth it. Who knows what that polyp would have become if I had never gotten one. So get one done if you can, you won’t regret it.

Hope this helps you
