Hi everyone. I’m 25 years old and was a heavy drinker from 2018 - February this year. I’ve quite drinking vodka and other alcohol completely since then. Due to the alcohol my stools haven’t really been normal for years and I don’t particularly have a great diet either.

At the moment I’m drinking too many energy drinks and cutting back on them now, but since maybe last month or the month before I’ve had a lot of bloody stools (some are explosive and splattered toilets red) and others are very subtle, bright red specks when I wipe. I’ve got a bit of stomach pain around the bottom of my abdomen, sometimes some mucus and non consistent bowel shapes, I’ve attached some pictures.

From a phone call with the doctor he thinks it might be colitis. I also had a bit of a high liver count previously and have high cholesterol so they wan to do a blood check and test for this too, along with a stool test.

Wondering - should I panic or what? I know nothing can be confirmed until tests have been carried out but every now and then I’m panicking.

Hi DontTrustGoogle,

Thanks for posting with us. first of all, I'm glad to see you're getting this checked out with your doctor. I think you're on the path to getting some good answers about your situation. Instead of speculation and Googling everything, your Dr has some tests that can determine what's going on.

Any time there is blood in the stool you need to have a good answer for it. You're definitely on your way to getting that answer. No matter what it turns out to be, you need this information. Please know it could be a lot of different things. You need to narrow them down.

I definitely do not think you should panic. You're doing exactly what needs to be done and that's seeing your doctor, explaining all the symptoms you're experiencing and finding out answers. You are not ignoring the symptoms.

I do wish you the best in finding out what's going on. Let us know what you find out as it is this type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well. You're definitely not the only one who has gone through this. It could be a variety of things going on. Your doctor should be able to help you get some definitive answers for these symptoms.

Thank you,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.
