I had a positive fit. I can see no blood in stool. Every now and then when I wipe there is a little blood on toilet paper. Is this common? I have a coloscopy this week. Really worried. Is this common?

Positive Fit scared
Hi slacker64,
Thank you for posting on colon cancer connected. I don’t know how common it is but it is definitely possible. There could be all kinds of reasons for having blood in the stool. It’s great that you’re getting it checked out and and the colonoscopy is absolutely the best way to get you some good answers. You should also know what it is possible to have a false positive FIT test. But since it did come back positive, you’re absolutely doing the best thing and getting it checked out. You’ll have a good answer to what’s going on and you won’t have to speculate and worry about it.
We do wish you all the best in getting some good answers and putting your mind at ease. Please let us know what you find out after your colonoscopy. It is information like that that can be helpful to others on this site.
As part of my cancer screening, I get an annual colonoscopy. If you want some tips on how to make it go easier as far as the prep is concerned, let me know. 👍
Thank you,
