Hi Tomo1991,

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to hear you're having to deal with this. You mentioned that you've had to deal with Constipation and diarrhea over several years. Is this the first time your stool has changed to what you are seeing? And over the last year you were mentioning you've had some stomach pains as well. Has that been occurring often? I know you said they go away after a few weeks but I was just wondering if that's a consistent thing that's happening with you? Anytime abdominal pain enters the picture it needs to be checked out. Gotta stay on the safe side of these things. It doesn't sound like anything that is sinister but definitely something to know why it's happening.

If you have never had this checked out by a medical professional I would go ahead and do so. Anytime something seems a little bit off and it becomes a consistent thing, go ahead and get it checked out. This way you don't have to speculate about what's going on. The doctor can put you through some tests that can help you narrow down the causes. That will go a long way in getting you some Peace of Mind as well.

We do wish you all the best and narrowing down what's going on. Seeing a doctor about it will put you on the path to “knowing” rather than “speculating.” Please let us know what you find out as information like that could be helpful to others.

Thank you,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.

It is tough to tell if there's anything concerning going on just from looking at the picture. Is it going to hurt to get it checked out? Absolutely not. Is it a cause of concern? I would say no since you are getting it checked out. That's the best thing to be doing. I sort of live by the saying that it's not concerning until it is. 😁

Your doctor will give you some tests. One of the tests may be a FIT test which will check if there's any blood in the stool. This would be a good thing to know. I would get some paper out and make a list of the concerns you have and the symptoms you've experienced just so you'll know you've covered all of them during your visit. Is there any hereditary medical information the doctor needs to know about? That way you won't leave the doctor's office saying, “I didn't let him know about this.”

Here's to good answers from Tuesday's appointment. 👍

thank you and thank you for your advice

I have the same, speak to your doctor and he will do a FIT test which looks for blood. Otherwise go to A&E best time is 8am on Tuesdays as my friend is a doctor there. I got a CT scan and a range of blood tests as well as a colonoscopy very quickly The do treat this seriously which is good as the sooner you get the answers the better. Hopefully you just been on the Guinness

Best wishes
