Have had diarrhea for 45 days now. Water for fest few days upto 30 times a day with abdominal cramps.
Diarrhea still ongoing 45 days later, less frequent but seems to happen more overnight. Waking up every night in early hours in need of toilet. Also my stomach makes funny noises and gurgling all time and I am very windy (and smelly) from both ends.
Saw consultant who ran a large range of blood tests (5 tubes of blood taken) and fit test. Nothing untoward has come back from these tests.
Have colonoscopy booked for three weeks time, but getting very fed up now.
Any ideas what the colonoscopy will find and more importantly will that solve/fix my problems?

Anonymous12343, wow that sounds like a very painful month and a half that you have had. Have you had a recent change in your diet? Have you added or taken away any foods or beverages? Sometimes our colons can be very sensitive. My other question to you is your in pain while having bowelmmovements or any severe pain beforehand? I also wanted to tell you that unfortunately Fit Tests aren't always accurate, which is why a colonoscopy is still the best way to find out what's going on in your colon.
I do not in anyway want to alarm you or cause any additional stress, however I also feel that knowledge is power. I did have stage 4 colon cancer at 28 and having it in and out of my large and small intestine, my right abdominal wall and my left lung, meanwhile my bloodwork was completely normal.
So many things can cause the diarrhea that you are dealing with, like diverticulitis, and IBS or IBD, etc., not just cancer. In the meantime try to eat foods that are binding like rice, bananas, oatmeal, to try to lessen the amount of times you have to go to have a BM. Also maybe ask your gastroenterologist or your general practioner if it is ok to take Imodium.
That sounds identical to my experience, now with 5-6 weeks of diarrhoea, gurgling and discomfort. I had probable gastroenteritis for 3-5 days (watery and relentless mess) and I think that triggered all this because I haven’t been the same since, including feeling really drained, although that is slowly improving. The diarrhoea isn’t. I’m rushing to the toilet twice every morning. Waiting for FIT and blood test results. I’m wondering if it’s post-infectious IBS, which my GP agreed was a possible explanation given that the sudden change started with a stomach bug. I hope you get some answers soon.
