Blood during period?

Hi all. I’m a 43-year-old woman who is worried about potential blood in stool. I started my period 2 days ago and noticed, what looked like, blood coming from the rectum as well as the normal monthly. I immediately called the doctor’s office, and they got me in that day. The dr did a Digital Rectal Exam, and found blood in my stool. Of course, my mind immediately went to cancer, and I’ve been worried ever since. As we all have, I’ve been examining every bowel movement since. It looks like there’s blood in my stool, but it’s almost impossible to tell if it’s actually rectal or from my period. I’ve also read that stool tests shouldn’t be performed during a woman’s menstrual period. Has anyone ever had this before? I will be scheduling a colonoscopy, but I have two small children and the anxiety is killing me. Thanks for any insight.

Hi,I have been having rectal bleeding during my period for 6 months now.Colonscopy will the best to rule out any colorectal problems.I have hemorroid and gynocologist said it can be it gets flared up around my period time.I see fresh red blood on tissue and lasts during period and stops when period finishes.
