Advise please

Has anyone's fit test came back abnormal but had colonscopy and everything was OK? And I was told 3/4mg on the fecal occult blood was normal mine was 16 is there anyone with a bit advice please. Wrote another post earlier explaining problems. Many thanks

Hi wbiC. My gp says she wanted to rule out other causes before diagnosing ibs thats why she says to have bloods stool and screening done, I automatically thought ibs after being diagnosed with fibro got a bit of a shock when screening came back positive that was never a thing that crossed my mind to be honest. I read somewhere that there is about 10-15% chances of cancer with positive FIT test. Don’t remember the numbers exactly but there were not high.

So eventually did u try to find out more on your fit test even after the colonoscopy was okay?

Hi Mondlee I have an appointment to get the colonoscopydone on the 29th of this month so unfortunately I know nothing untill then although the nurse on the phone did say there was only a mild trace of blood so I guess that's a positive start.

That’s good, update us on ur colonoscopy because I had my colonoscopy in March and a few other scans, all good but then the output and feeling are not always good till now. Like sometimes I have the urgency to BM and after BM, my anus always feel sensitive, like feeling unfinished, I don’t know, it’s frustrating

It's an awful feeling I totally get what you mean. I got the dreded prep drink this morning I'm not looking forward to this at all I feel anxious and embarrassed just thinking about it. I'm pleased yours was all good sorry you still feel frustrated I think it's such a delicate part of our body and when its not working as well as it should it's very confusing and worrying. I will certainly keep everyone posted on my results. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2021.

My dad had a positive FIT test last year so he was sent for a colonoscopy and the GI found nothing. Sounds like it’s not super uncommon.

Hi Denmag I'm pleased your dad's cane back clear can i ask did he have any symptoms.

No I don’t think so. He’s always had clear scopes so they sent him the kit more or less to see if he should have one. It was either a false positive or some other fluke. But clearly it does happen

Dexmeg Yer I'm sure it's a done thing now if your aged 60 n over you get offered them every year I thinknow which.is a life saver for some folk.

Had ct colonoscopy and ct thorax yesterday so now just waiting to hear back with all test results
