Hello, I am 41, with two previous intestinal surgeries. One was a routine appendectomy then a couple of years latler I had a bowl obstruction that required a laparotomy removing scare tissue from my small intestine. Over the last two years I have been unable to see a gi doc and have have nausea and vomiting everyday with narrow stools. I also lost 50 pounds in the last 2 months. This is how my stool looks now, if anyone could tell me if it looks abnormal I would appreciate it as I have just lost a close friend due to colon cancer and seem to be showing some of the same symptoms. Thank you.

Hi. I feel your anxiety. I am not a doctor and dont have your symptoms but I am now on my 4th oscopy and have had a CT scan. Still no diagnosis..

However I do know that my consultant always asks me have I lost weight and are my bowel movements sausage shape so I think you need to get back to your doctor as soon as possible for more tests.

It better to make sure. Dont leave it.

Sending you a hug.

A.

Dear Needopinion,

Thank you for posting and I'm sorry to read about what you are experiencing. Why is it that you are unable to see a GI doc over the past two years? Your nausea, vomiting, weight loss and narrow stools are definitely reasons to see a specialist.

There can be many reasons for your symptoms, but the only way to know for sure will be to see a specialist. Please share what is preventing seeing a specialist, we want you to be able to get answers.

We're here for you, please reply when you have a chance.

Hello, I'm sorry for taking a little while to get back to you, my doctor ordered a ton of blood tests yesterday, these were mostly related to my heart however. The reason I haven't seen a gi doc is after the laparotomy, the team of doctors I had figured everything was ok at the at the time so didn't feel the need for a specialist. Everything got really bad five years ago when I could barely keep anything down, started bloating, with seizures and extream brain fog. These symptoms impaired me so much I could and can no longer drive or work, thus lost my health insurance, so now I'm working with new doctors hoping it's not too late. I currently only qualify for medi-cal witch is ok but it can take months to get referrals let alone appointments. I'm currently unable to get threw a day without anti nausea meds, and weird deep bone pain I just can't make any sense of. Hopefully this helps. I'm simply exhausted and know something is wrong with my gut again.

Thank you for your help, it really means a lot to me, I don't want to leave my kids to soon.
