Hi all, I'm a 44 year old female and for the past month, I've had blood and white mucus in my stool and there's also blood when I pass gas. It feels like I have to poop all the time, even after I just went. I had a hemorrhoidectomy two years ago and I thought the hemorrhoids may have returned (even though there is much more blood than back then). However, I had a colonoscopy on Tuesday and it's not hemorrhoids. In fact, my doctor doesn't know what it is. He removed one "unconcerning" polyp and took tissue samples from the other spots and sent them to be biopsied. Now I'm just waiting for results. He said he didn't know if it was scar tissue from my hemorrhoidectomy, proctitis or something else entirely. Has anyone had colonoscopy results that looked like this? If so, what was your diagnosis?

Hi. I had very similar symptoms and had a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago. Turns out I have ulcerative colitis. I had blood, blood clots, and lots of mucus. Weird that your doctor couldn’t see that during the colonoscopy. My doctor also did biopsies which confirmed chronic UC. Hopefully you find out soon so you can at least have a diagnosis.
May I ask if you have any pain for colitis? And how long you had this blood with mucus? I had similar issue but only last for a week with no pain ... I am very worried and thinking the worst ;(
Hi Worryqueen8585,
It was around 4 months before I ended making an appointment with the Gastro Dr. I was nervous and scared and hoping it would just go away but it wasn’t. I would have some cramping pain but not consistent. It was more gas, mucus, and blood clots and drops. I would make an appointment ASAP just so you can have clarity.
Turns out it's ulcerative colitis, limited to my rectum, so far. He prescribed mesalamine and it's definitely working.
Hello FragglerockDoozer,
Thank you for sharing with us and I'm sorry to read what you are going through. I recommend that you seek out a second opionion - especially since you already had the colonoscopy, starting off with getting another specialist to view the photos from the colonoscopy could be a good start.
Did they mention how long it will take to get the biospy results?
Please keep us posted and we're here for you.
