London NHS Blood Tests Failure.

Yes I saw this yesterday. It’s affecting South London GSTT, Kings and some GP’s surgeries. And I believe issues are ongoing. All very concerning.

I also feel concerned. I had a blood test in February which said cholesterol 5 and diabetes 4.9. (Diabetic and on metformin). This week the test said cholesterol 3.5 and diabetes 4.7 (pre diabetic). Surely in such a short time the readings would not have improved. I am due a test for my CLL. Can I trust the test?
I have my CLL blood tests (last month) at Guy's cancer centre. I will email my specialist nurse. If you have a special nurse, you may want email them.......
As I understand it relates to Potassium tests but as Misty… suggests it’s worth questioning with CNS/GP

Your cholesterol and blood glucose change all day everyday. A number up or down from the last is not surprising and not normally any concern. How you sleep or how long you fast can make a big difference. With blood sugar a few weeks of diet changes can make a big difference. By the way, fasting longer than the minimum can make your cholesterol appear high rather than helping your cause.
I’m under Kings and this happened during the run up to and during treatment. While there were delays to results and the need for blood tests prioritised, I personally didn’t have any obvious issues with result accuracy or illogical values. Over the last few months things seem to be working as normal.
This issue, of incorrect blood readings, happened to my wife at Chesterfield Hospital last year so it is not so unusual. She was put on a program and then became underweight. They claimed this year that a machine was faulty.
Thanks for posting that. I will certainly remember this if I have any issues in the future.
