I was diagnosed with Sll/Cll in 2019. Been on watch and wait since. Immunoglobulins are low and have suffered from a few infections, cellulitis, shingles, ear infections and pink eye. Oncologist had me do some Gammagaurd infusions and that seems to be keeping the infections away. So far I have had 6 Gammagaurd infusions. My biggest issue now is Hives ( I have had Hives before the infusions), I have had hives on and off for over 2 years now. My primary care doctor sent me to a allergy doctor and a dermatologist. Dermatologist did a biopsy which came back positive as hives, she then ran blood work and said my hives are an internal issue not a skin issue. Then went to allergy doctor and she prescribed zyxal and singular daily. That prescription cleared up the hives for a month or so but I am continually getting breakthrough hives even with prescribed medication. I am being told that hives are not because of Sll/Cll. I have never had Hives before and can’t help but feel they are caused from my weakened immune system. Just curious if anyone else has suffered from hives since being diagnosed and any suggestions to help them?

I used to break out in hives for seemingly no apparent reason before being treated for SLL. It started about four years after diagnosis. They would occur mainly on my arms and legs and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to what was triggering them. I went for allergy testing and found out I have contact allergic dermatitist. I am allergic to most lotions, fragrances, laundry detergents and the list goes on. My skin would get very itchy, even without hives. As soon as I started treatment, my problem with hives and itchiness disappeared. So I am not sure if the hives disappeared because of treatment or because of eliminating those products from our home.

Although, not high on the list of adverse reactions, you may have a known tendency in this case.
Doctor should know that you know, perhaps a different dilution strength, or more time between administrations, fewer doses, etc. could mitigate? 🙂
I would think that taking an antihistamine prior to Gammadard infusions, switching to a different IgG product or changing to subcutaneous IgG delivery are more likely to help.

I wasn't aware there was products for immunoglobulins. My IgM has increased every 3 months: 1023 (November 2023) to 1675 (October 2024) as well as my IgA and IgG. I am getting concerned because of the increase but the Oncologist says she isn't concern right now. I have posted my comments before with increasing IgM at that time there were alot of other diseases rule out. Thanks just didn't know.
You have my sympathy, my husband has been plagued, all over body, and it really made him miserable however they are being kept at bay by daily dosage of Antihistamine plus keeping his skin moisturised but if he stops then back I comes.
