Covid in the house

I have just started Zanubrutinib 3 months ago and I don't want to pause it at this point, but there is covid in my house and I'm worried I might get it. Are any of the current covid treatments OK to take at the same time as Zanubrutinib? I believe zanu must be paused during Paxlovid treatment.

Thankfully studies have shown that short breaks off BTKi maintenance therapy e.g. for surgery, don't have an adverse impact impact long term. So a 5 day halt of zanubrutinib should you be unfortunate enough to get COVID-19, is not going to be an issue.

It's obviously still worth taking appropriate steps reduce your risk of getting infected. You and the person with COVID-19 should be wearing a good respiratory FFP2/N95 as much as possible, keep the house well ventilated - have windows open where practical, use an air filter, keep your distance, use separate bathrooms if available, take care with hand washing using separate towels.

Hopefully you'll be able to provide an update, saying you've kept infection free as others have in your situation.

Did most of what you said, and I still got it. Hem/onc is letting me take 1/4 dose of Zanu while on Paxlovid. This is the first time I've gotten Covid. I guess my number was just up.

Thanks, John, for that useful information (I'm on Zanu myself).

A quarter dose for five days, I assume?

Hope you recover smoothly, without incident.

When I started on Zanu in September of 2023 I developed a rash - nothing serious but my onc had me stop the Zanu to see if the rash cleared.

It did and I survived the pause (14 days) without consequences and the rash never reappeared.

You got this!
