I don't know about blogs -- for Health Unblocked it might be MPN Voice. MPN stands for myeloproliferative neoplasms.

But there is the following from the Rocky Mt. Cancer Centers' webpage that looks interesting:

New Targeted Therapy Treatments for AML

Targeted therapy drugs hone in on specific genes or proteins causing cancer cells to grow. AML patients are tested to see if any of the following are present:

FLT3 gene mutation

IDH1 or IDH2 gene mutation

BCL-2 protein overgrowth

hedgehog pathway

If one or more of these tests are positive, a targeted therapy drug may be given to counteract the gene or protein that fuels the cancer cells. These are generally easier to tolerate compared to chemotherapy and, in some cases, are an alternative for AML patients over 75 who may not be able to take the intense chemotherapy treatments.

Unfortunately, the charity that managed the HU community that supported those with AML, has ended their relationship with HU. The Leukaemia Support community healthunlocked.com/leukaemi... is now managed by HU.

This reflects the difference between chronic and acute blood cancers. People get quickly treated for acute cancers, can be cured and generally move on with their lives. Chronic cancers and health conditions engender the time for supportive communities to grow. A close friend of mine had AML about 15 years ago and is now well into his 70s. You wouldn't know he ever had AML.

I hope your friend can find a supportive community elsewhere.
