Hello. My partner has CLL and on treatment. Does anyone know if air purifiers that reduce H1N1 viruses are worth the money?. I've done some research but alot of it is info from manufacturers who are obviously trying to promote their products.

My opinion, yes. However, one must keep them maintained (change the filters) wear a mask, gloves, and wash up when done. I do it on the balcony. Don't forget to clean the controls, touch panels are a forgotten surface.

Yes. Assuming you're talking room-sized, will also help to mitigate the impact of unmasked visitors. Reduces dust, too.

Hello Treecleaner

Standalone air purifiers are a much better solution than heating and air conditioning air handlers with HEPA filters. The only thing HEPA filters do is reduce the air flow and lead to fan motor failure.

I would say yes as we have had a Coway in our house for the past 2 years. Here is an article explaining the benefits - nytimes.com/wirecutter/revi...

Indoor air quality is important and, while having good indoor air quality mightn't completely eliminate the risk of airborne respiratory infections, it can substantially reduce it.

This website by the not for profit organisation Clean Air Stars is a great resource. It provides advice about natural ventilation, how to monitor CO2 levels and how to choose the right kind and number of air filters for your particular situation.

Choosing an air filter can be confusing, but it needn’t be: cleanairstars.com/filters

you can also make your own corsi-rosrnthal box using a fan and filters. There are different configurations for them, taking up different size footprints. A company called Air Fanta iirc, created one that can be disassembled and fit into a carry on sized piece of luggage to take along on trips for use in your accommodations. But it can also be used in your home. that one does have a smaller footprint )but still decent air exchanges) which comes in handy.
