Cll and IBS

I had an abdominal CT on Monday, ordered by my Gastroenterologist. CLL related results were as expected, spleen 20cm up from 17cm in 2018, lymph nodes slightly larger, lower lungs clear, remainder of the solid abdominal organs remain stable.Gallbladder is collapsed, and the bile ducts are of normal caliber.

I never heard of a collapsed gallbladder, has anyone had this, and if so how is it treated. I wonder if this is the cause of my IBS.

I have been W&W for 15 years, have no symptoms and no treatment.

Hi Cleggett,

Here is what I got from a Google search:

medicalnewstoday.com/articl...

"The gallbladder stores bile, a digestive fluid. It contracts after emptying as part of the digestive process, but other factors, such as gallstones, can cause it to collapse, leading to pain and other symptoms.

As a normal part of the digestive process, the gallbladder collapses or contracts after it empties.

However, the gallbladder sometimes shrinks because of an underlying condition. There are several possible causes of this, including gallstones.

This article explores the symptoms, causes, and treatment of an abnormally collapsed gallbladder.

Risk factors

Typically, a collapsed gallbladder results from stone disease or some other obstruction, with gallstones being a common reason for inflammation in the gallbladder. Risk factors for cholelithiasis, which may cause a chronically collapsed gallbladder, include:

being female

having obesity

having had rapid weight loss

being pregnant

being over the age of 60 years

eating a diet high in fat

Additional risk factors for a collapsed gallbladder include:

family history of gallstones

birth control pills, such as levonorgestrel, may increase the riskTrusted Source of gallbladder disease

high dose estrogen therapy

hormone replacement therapy

Unless you take a lot of medications which cause your IBS, it is possible that your colon is telling you that you need to change the composition of your diet. Lot of young people who do not take any medications have IBS these days. I see youngsters in their 20s and 30s losing their large intestine completely. And having to live with colostomy bags. What does your diet look like?
