Why once a week? What is the dose? It is my understanding that vitamin d cannot be stored for long in the body therefore it is better to take a lower dose everyday. I can't wait for this bloody winter to end so that I can start again taking regular sun exposure during the season and produce 20,000 international units just through my skin every day 🙂 That will at least partly take care of my morbidly high serum cholesterol levels LOL .

LeoPa, per table 6 of this exhaustive reference, Vitamin D Sources, Metabolism, and Deficiency: Available Compounds and Guidelines for Its Treatment ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... the half life of stored vitamin D is 2 to 3 months. Hence once a week dosing is more than adequate. Taking it daily just makes it easier to remember to take it.

Thanks! Then much of what I generate in season I carry through the first half of Winter! Good news.

I am 79. My primary care doctor prescribed 2,000 IU daily I have been taking this amount of D3 for many years w/o a problem. My most recent Vitamin D reading was 47.8. From researching on the web, you can safely take up to 4,000 IOU daily.
