I got the same letter, thought I’d click through and get the Vit D for the family if not for me. Cancer patients are on the ‘not suitable’ list.

Just spoken to my gp and he said go for it .its not an issue for me.im not on any treatment for CLL just anti biotics for immune system. I had skin cancer two years ago and now keep out off the sun,so vitamin D could be a good thing.

That’s good - hopefully they’ll send it to you.

re "cancer patients are on the 'not suitable' list", I have CLL and am taking Ibrutinib. My primary care doctor issued me a prescription for 1000 IU of Vitamin D3. This is the first I've heard of vitamin D3 being a problem for CLL patients undergoing treatment.

Hi Mteaney, I don’t have knowledge one or another about cancer patients taking Vit D. I was only trying to share that when I tried to register for the Vit D to be ‘given’ out by the NHS, cancer was on the exempt list as some cancers react adversely to Vit D. I guess they’re lumping it all together for convenience. I do take Vit D but that’s off my own back. I’ve never asked my doctor. Maybe I should!

Not suitable for Vit D or life?

I’ve been taking it for 4yrs before & after starting treatment on the encouragement of my team at The Christie too.

Hi Sepsur, all I was sharing was cancer as a collective was on the exempt list for the NHS Vit D list when I tried to register for it. Probably because it’s risky for some cancers. I have no knowledge either way with regards to CLL specifically but do take Vit D myself.
