Atorvastatin and Ibrutinib

Just look for any others on Atorvastatin and Ibrutinib? Been advised that I should go ahead after 5 years of delaying.

I have put a question into my haematology team as to the acceptability of Atorvastatin, I know certain statins should not be taken with Ibrutinib.

Drugs.com says no interaction but grapefruit juice increases the uptake of both. You can add Seville oranges (marmalade) and star-fruit to that.

NICE also says no interaction.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like I have no excuse now :(

Being put on statins really upset my friend. He had to take a whole tray of tinned grapefruit segments to the food bank. If you can imagine Arkwright from Open All Hours having to do such a thing.

Hi I am on both drugs and fine. My cholesterol was only 4.4 but my GP offered statins based on research. My haematologist totally agreed as long as I could tolerate it, which I have. No side effects so far after 3 months plus of statins.

I hate taking new drugs, always worried about reactions, but often they never happen.

Hi me too. All we can ever do is give it a go.

Good luck

I took both together for a couple of years - no problems.

Thank you.

I’m on both for over a year now. My cholesterol was a bit elevated and it’s now in the normal range. I drug my feet but was convinced it was worth it. I haven’t had any issues. Sally

As above I have no excuses but to give it a go.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes for you. Sally

I've been on both for over 6 years. No problems with interactions, but I have seen some of the known side effects for each (e.g., had AFib from Ibrutinib, some fatigue that may have been from the atorvastatin). I had to address the AFib eventually with a cardiac ablation procedure, which fortunately fixed it! Otherwise, the side effects have been minimal. Best of luck to you!
