Wouldn't celebrate till it's done & don't expect we'll notice much. Same with the 2025 $2k cap in copay. Also, Imbruvica is mfg'd in India & they have a generic (India did a better job of negotiating) while it is a cash cow for AV & a 1G drug with new, established, G's beyond imbruvica.

A quick Google search led me to this article which is likely the generic version of Imbruvica you mentioned. It says the FDA cleared them, but the article is over two years old, and I never heard anything about it....

I actually just tried to send the company Zydus a message and ask them the status of their generic Imbruvica, but the pressing the message submit button on their website results in an endlessly spinning ball.

If you want to sell a drug into many countries, pharma has to negotiate with the their gov't's. We don't have a generic. My specialty pharmacy invoice states "US version:". Thus, India likely negotiated w/AV if you want to sell in India, you must also mfr there. (like they did w/ Apple. phones); hence India probasbly negotiated using a "generic" for India at least.

if the price negotiains in the U.S. haven't yet begun, how can you say that "India did a better job of negotiating.." It seems that some people just cannot accept the possibility that something good might come out of this. Myself, I am a 100% combat disabled veteran and all of my healthcare costs are covered by the VA. I hope and pray that the upcoming price negotiations of ibrutinib and the other drugs involved will result in MORE people in this country being able to afford their medications. I guess it is a shame that this issue is a bit more complicated to understand or accept than suggestions to lnject bleach into ones body to prevent covid.

From what I read, the "$2k cap" will be for the year, not a month. I wasn't quite sure what you meant by your comment, but for anyone else who's confused, that works out to $166 a month. factcheck.org/2022/08/medic...

I would be so happy to shell out just $2K/year. As is, I pay $1K/year to FedEx to have a sister in California send me Imbruvica in Japan each month.

I wish my Specialty Pharmacy would send me Imbruvica directly every month, but they will only ship it to U.S. addresses.

2026 is still 3 years away, and then, there's no guarantee that prices will go down, they will be negotiations, that doesn't mean that the price will go down(sorry to be the Debbie Downer) I've been on Imbruvica since April 2018, so I would LOVE if the price would drop, but I might not be here in 3 years

There are many subsidies available for BTKis, and presumably those will remain in place.

I have been on Ibrutinib since 2014 but I am now showing signs of developing a resistance to it. You are in my prayers that Ibrutinib will continue to work at least as long for you or even longer than my 9-year positive experience with Ibrutinib. I'm hoping to be able to switch over to Pirtobrutinib in January 2024 when FDA approval is expected for use for CLL treatment.

Very sorry to hear to hear that you’re showing signs of resistance. It took my body and my blood a year and a half to adapt to Ibrutinib (starting in 2016), but it’s been smooth sailing ever since.
