venclexta cost

I am about ready to do O&V. I saw the price of venclexta on the net. It’s insane!! I have US Medicare part a and b only. I think I have no insurance for this drug. What am I supposed to do? Use up what savings I have. Sell my house and move into government housing. Am I missing something here ? I have no experience with this sort of thing I sure would appreciate some advice or suggestions This forum has been a big help to me. Thanks very much.

I just went through this process of how to get this pricey pill.

First of all, your on medicare which is good. Lets say you do not have plan D drug plan.

If you file taxes jointly and your adjusted gross income is under 100k. GENENTEC WILL GIVE YOU THE VENETOCLAX FOR FREE AND EVEN SEND IT TO YOU! Its a current low income program they have. I personally talked to the department at Genentec that provides it.

Obinutuzumab is covered under part A and B. So you are good there for the infusions.

You can have cash in the bank, retirement accounts, a home, business whatever. They don't care! Its adjusted gross income for 2022 that they will want to know. Thats married couple filing jointly.

I could have gone that route. But I chose another route since I have Part D drug plan. But for you, if your adjusted gross is under the 100k. Which it.probobly is if your retired. You will not have to sell your home or any of that other stuff you were worried about loosing...:)

I applied for a copay grant from PAN. Received one for $9700 which is paying my copay for Venetoclax. I say this incase you do have Plan D drug plan.

So check your adjust gross income for 2022 and go from there. You can google genentec and call them directly. You can also have your oncology office submit your info to them as well. Just photocopy your 2022 tax page where it shows adjusted gross. Thats all you will need to get it paid for if your under 100k.

Pacificview gave you great advice.

Contact CLL Society. They help with finances. Not sure if it's different than PAN.

You may want to add part D.

Good luck 🙏💕

Contact the drug company directly, see if you qualify for free drug. They look at current income not assets, you won't have to sell anything. This is *not* run through Medicare At All, so no worries about the donut hole.

Better yet, if you are near a study center, or willing to travel, consider the MAJIC trial. They are *paying for* all these already FDA approved meds. They are trying to see how V&O compares to V&A. There may be travel funds available from other resources like the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And we really need to know if one of these regimens seems "better" than the other, so please please consider it.

Please note that not every study site for every state is in this link, just the main administrative one. You won't know if there is a site close to you just by looking at the link, you have to ask. I have emailed/called the places in my state, or out of state, when interested in a study. Then you can find out exactly where you would be going.

You probably should consider adding a Part D plan, with this disease state.

Agree with prior comments. Check out cll society and lls on the web. Your doc may have a connection to your nearest academic center, which may have administrators that can help. And yes you should get part d .

i only have medicare part a and b and with the grant from the lls paying my copay i get the drugs for free and a $500 travel/lodging expense card on top of that .at 74 i would not have sold our farm to pay for the drugs just to stay alive a few more years . we really thank the good Lord for these wonderful programs ... 🙏 blessings , james

part d Medicare is very inexpensive and maxes out your cost to around $10k as opposed to $180k. I'm on week 5 and have paid $3.5k out of pocket but I'd been saving for the cost of the newer drugs for years before I started Tx.

I see the post below about free V based on income. If you exceed the income you can retire from work and write a letter that you've retired

Good luck and God bless
