On ramp for night sweats?

Hello friends,

In January I contracted Covid after spending nearly three years. After a day of a stuffy nose and a bite of a bagel that tasted like basswood chips, I took the test and viola, it was positive. My symptoms were thankfully very mild and I never had a fever.

One thing I did experience was waking up a couple of nights to a slightly damp nightgown, something I had not ever experienced before. Last night it happened again causing me to travel down the Worry river in my mind and fearing my CLL has advanced. By way of reference, I have been on watch and wait for nine years.

I would be grateful if anyone can share their night sweat experiences with me. Did you have a sudden onset or was it gradual? Did anyone experience night sweats connected to Covid?

As always, I send rays of support to all members of our community. Carolyn

I've had covid twice.

The second round of covid was much worse for me. I ran a low-grade fever for about three days and had bad night sweats for about ten days. I felt some reassurance after I read some reports that the latest covid mutation was producing night sweats in some people.

Carolyn, I had night sweats with covid and also night sweats caused by CLL. I think yours are very likely caused by covid. You do not have to run a fever to sweat because of an infection. In fact, when I'm unwell even with colds - I do wake up slightly wet. CLL night sweats were something quite extraordinary. You are honestly drenched, you have to change the bed sheets and wipe yourself with a towel, it is actually as bad that you don't sleep on your bed sheets as your mattress honestly gets soaked as if you poured a bucket of water on it and I was sweating in really unusual places - my shins for example were dripping with water - I'm not over exaggerating.

I think that your body is probably still fighting a mild infection but I might be wrong. I would definitely observe this and see if it gets worse and I would defo mention it to my consultant - if it gets worse, I would call, if it doesn't, I would wait till my next appointment.

Covid does take a while to get over and it is not unusual for people to have e.g. a sinus infection a couple of weeks later.

14-15 years of WW never any night sweats. COVID a few times and each time a ton of sweating.

Same for my father who does not have CLL. night sweats like crazy.

I had this 'nasty' UK virus over Christmas and, at its worst, I had 7 sweats in one night. They continued for two weeks but easing all the time. At one point I did think my CLL had advanced but I was wrong. I am back running again and feeling like normal. My wife had the same virus and mirrored me in relation to coughing and phlegm. However, she had no sweats at all. We are all different in our response I think.
