side effects severe after 1year on Calquence

Severe headaches with nausea and fever lastung for days. Had to stop medication.anybody else have this problem?

Hi denmanjemima,

I see you started Ibrutinib about two years ago, switched to Calquence due to side effects, and probably live in Canada.

I've been on Calquence / Acalabrutinib for 9 months, but only had issues with headaches for the first 6 weeks. I did develop some other side effects on Ibrutinib, Zydelig and Venetoclax.

Your doctor will likely be the best source to address this issue, and may ask you whether this was sudden or developed gradually over time. Then he/she will probably step through a process called "differential diagnosis" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffe...

Then many doctors would probably try pausing your Calquence for a few weeks to determine if all the side effects resolve (stop) and then consider whether to restart at half dose or full dose.

If that does not reduce the problem to bearable levels, then other drugs might be considered- Zanabrutinib or Venetoclax could be possible, but that would require a thorough review of your medical history.
