New Evusheld (AstraZeneca) Commercial On US National TV

A very subdued, professional TV commercial with one of my favorite movie stars, Jeff Bridges. The commercial was on CBS network US national news directed to immunocompromised viewers. Near the beginning of the pandemic, Jeff was diagnosed with Lymphoma, underwent chemo, and later contracted Covid before the Covid vaccination was widely available. He spent 5 weeks in the hospital, some of it on a ventilator. Like many of us, his immune system was decimated after the cancer treatments. Here he speaks to inform folks of the availability of antibodies from AstraZeneca (makers of Evusheld) to help them return to a normal life.

I had not seen this since I mainly stream movies and watch late night comedians the next morning on another streaming platform or forum. Thanks for posting this valuable public service along with the back story. Did not know about Jeff Bridges lymphoma experience.

I am scheduled for 2nd Evusheld at the end of September.

I am also scheduled for my second Evusheld vaccinations in about 2 weeks. CDC says I can get the new Moderna vaccination within days of my Evusheld. However, if I get the new Moderna vaccination first, I should wait 2 weeks to get my Evusheld vaccinations.

Yeah, same as I heard so got the new Pfizer this past Monday which gives me a 17 day gap before the Evusheld. And enough time in case they update recommendations like they did with the first release of Evusheld where I had to return for a second half dose (5 hour drive each way). Found it local this time.

I'm with you. Today's television is not worth watching because in a one hour show, they run 22-24 minutes of commercials (That's 44-48 commercials of garbage interrupting a show). What's really, really bad is during the Medicare signup period October-December. Ad after after ad after ad to sign up or change your Medicare provider. The US and New Zealand are the only Western countries that allow drug companies to push their drugs on television.

how did the first Evusheld go? Any side effects?

Zero side effects... bend over and receive a shot in each cheek. Wasn't even sore. What's great is that after FOUR Moderna shots that produced zero antibodies, my Evusheld showed that I had antibodies when tested 5 months later.

No side effects but my first round were half doses Feb and March. This time will be full dose, fingers crossed.

After my husband's stem cell transplant in May, his doctors prescribed Evusheld and told us the antibodies would last about 6 months. Prior to his transplant for MDS, he was told he was not high enough on the list to qualify, even though he was neutropenic and immune compromised. At UW Hospital in Madison, WI the transplant patients were prioritized over others as Evusheld is in short supply. Pete (after 8 years and 3 treatments) put CLL into remission only to be diagnosed with MDS which is even more high risk. They called it therapy induced MDS---so his chemo caused this. Probably BR, which was his first chemo treatment. In my humble opinion, I would avoid chemo as first treatment and wish he would have had Imbrutinib first.

Dr Eric Topol tweeted regarding Jeff Bridges Ad/PSA:-

For more than 7 million immunocompromised Americans, <6% have had Evusheld, which can be lifesaving, and still effective vs BA.5. Free of charge
