Dostarlimab - Check point inhibitor

Some of you may have already read about a new check point inhibitor, Dostarlimab, which cured 100% of clinical trial patients (only 12 in advance stage) who had Colorectal cancer. Now all the patients have been cured and all treatment stopped. The best part was that the new drug had minimal side effects and treatment time was only 6 months (after years of regular treatment). The Glaxo molecule cost was only $11000 for 6 months treatment. 😃

This clinical trial was done in Sloan Kettering Cancer Institue, and I wish, hope, and pray Glaxo does not discontinue this drug because the cost is only $11000/-

This news gives me great hope for a similar wonder drug for our family as well.

Unfortunately, check point inhibitor drugs don't seem to work that well with CLL, probably because of the disruptive effect of CLL on the immune system. Still, given the research into reconstituting the immune system after treatment in CLL, there is hope and indeed continuing research into checkpoint inhibitor drugs for CLL.

Thanks for that.Great news for those patients! 😊

Even if it doesn’t lead to an actual treatment for CLL, the more research that’s done for any cancer has got to be a massive positive thing!

Stay safe,

The problem is it cured one subtype of colorectal cancer which about 5 to 15% of people have. Those that have other types still need to be checked through a trial. Let's hope it will work for them too. And for us, down the line , should we need it.

Hello nuji

When I first read about this drug, it was indicated that it might help patients with leukemia. However in reading a later full article on the small trial at Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute, it did not sound as promising. Blessings.
