Do people in London wear masks? Is it difficult to eat outdoors there? Are there resources available?
My husband, who’s recently had surgery, needs to go to London on business and I think I ought to go with him to help out. I still test negative for covid antibodies from the vaccines but have had Evusheld. I’ve avoided covid here in The States by wearing an N95 whenever indoors and around crowds. Will this serve me well in London?

A vast majority of people in London do not wear masks. Hardly anyone masked even on public transport. Plenty of places where you can eat outside but you would have to plan a bit. Central London is always over crowded.
On my last journey on a London train in the suburbs about 10-15% of people wore masks and it wasn't too busy. People do spread out. Avoid rush hours if you can. The app "Tfl Go" gives route planner and tells you how busy the stations are so you can plan ahead.
Took my daughter to London dungeons a month ago. Everyone was crowded together and we were the only one with masks. The good thing is rates are going down for now. So I avoid indoors where possible anyway and places which are crowded until I feel I have no choice, then I step back. 2 masks can be good too
I’ll echo the other comments, very small % wear masks on trains. I would definitely plan train use outside of peak/rush hour times if you can. If on an overground train and the windows aren’t open, feel free to open them. If using the underground and the train looks packed, then wait for the next one, it will only be a couple of minutes.
Loads of places to eat outside, but I would plan ahead and book so that you have shelter in case it rains.
If you tell me which part of London your husband is going to, I can provide some suggestions on restaurants.
Sorry it’s taken so much time to respond. We’ll be in Bloomsbury, which is close to where my husband will be working. We’ve been in London before but never stayed in that area - and also never after covid, so any suggestions will help. Thanks so much.
Good luck Ann and I am sure Emma will have some suggestions ( sadly I haven’t ventured far recently ) but was the new development at Kings Cross around when you were last in London ? Numerous places to eat and drink and plenty with outside spaces. Check Coal Drop, it’s a fascinating development.
Thank you so much. We were last in London about 6 months before the pandemic. Both of our medical teams have approved this coming trip but there are concerns now that we didn’t have before. The community on Healthunlocked has been so helpful!
N95 is what I use in my infrequent trips on public transport. Otherwise life seems s normal here on uk. If he feels symptoms, there us good first response assistance.
