Each province and territory in Canada has its own set of rules and procedures to access treatments for COVID 19, both preventative treatments (Evusheld) and post exposure treatments (Paxlovid, Remdisivir, etc.) .
CLL Canada has prepared a document which describes the treatments available and how to gain access to them. You can find this document on our website here: cllcanada.org/news-and-events/
Three points to keep in mind :
1. Evusheld, the pre-exposure treatment, is now available in Ontario and Quebec
The treatment that many of us have been waiting for is in the process of being deployed by each province and territory. It is a preventive treatment which protects from COVID complications in people for whom vaccination is not effective, people with CLL among them.
2. Eligibility is often restricted to people "under active treatment for cancer"
Check the document on our website for details. We are working with Lymphoma Canada and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada to gain access for all people with CLL, whether they are before, during or after treatment.
3. Governments can and do change rules and procedures.
As much as we worked to produce an up to date document, we may miss some changes going forward. Please let us know of any changes to access rules and procedures in your province or territory by writing us at cllcanada.org@gmail.com
