Hello folks . Is there an advantage to taking your medication (IBRUTINIB) at bed time or first thing in the morning ? I have just recently started mine.3 x 140 mg daily. I am in my third week , I feel like I have a head cold most days and I sneeze a lot . Tired and head ache . Do these things subside over time? Hope everyone has a GOOD day today.

IBRUTINIB
Hi Dyba,

When I saw your posting I used our search feature but found that there are over 4,200 past postings that mention Ibrutinib and side effects. I can't find a good discussion about timing the dose, but I recall there were several. My own CLL Expert indicates that many side effects decrease over the first year and encourages me to try different times of the day to see if timing helps with sleep, nausea, etc. So you may want to experiment on your own.

One of the better discussions was your posting from 14 days ago:

I have been on Ibrutinib for 23 months and started taking it in the mornings after coffee and toast. So far so good, with little in the way of side effects (other than occasional leg cramps, skin irritations and strange back and hand pains). I didn't have any fatigue at all after a few days on the meds. To date my labs show my blood as being 100% normal. Given that I didn't experiment with changing my dosing times. I find calcium magnesium supplements, green tea extract, Turmeric Curcumin and other vitamins helpful to my overall sense of well-being. My GP and Hematologist are both OK with my supplements given my good results.
Welcome Dyba,I have been on Ibrutinib for a little over 5 years and feeling great. Just saw my oncologist on Monday to review my boring labs and don’t have to go back for another 6 months.
I take Ibrutinib at 7pm and it works well for me. I set the alarm on my phone so I don’t forget. I figured if I was going to be sick, I would rather it be during sleep☺️ I have been very fortunate with no negative side effects. I’ve previously been treated with FR and BR, so I know what it’s like to experience the side effects of treatments. I was pretty sick with chemotherapy. Best of luck figuring out what works best for you. Sally
Hi Dyba, I have been on Ibrutinib for 4 years now with few side effects other than brittle nails and cramping but I take Biotin for nails and magnesium pills for the cramps which controls them. I take my pills in the morning, I started taking at night but found it more convenient in the morning because I know I will always be there, at night sometimes I wasn't home at the time and would have to take them with me, which often times didn't happen so hd to take them late. Good luck
