Has anyone come across this study? ucd.ie/research/news/2022/v... Early on in the pandemic I was told by my haematology team that it was no use measuring antibody response as no one knew what level was needed for a sensible level of protection against the virus. This study is now measuring response to determine the need and/or timing of booster vaccines. So there must now be some sort of consensus on levels of antibodies and degrees of protection. I would like to know how well the vaccine (4 doses so far) has worked for me. Mask wearing has declined to a very low number in my area and although I use an "industrial" FFP3 valved mask (I'm trying valved versions to reduce my problem with my glasses misting up) it would b good to know if I can remove it is otherwise reasonably safe crowd free or outdoor environments.

If your glasses are misting up your Mask doesn't fit properly. You are breathing around it not through it. Find a way to make it fit tightly. I am not aware of any studies about the correlation between antibody levels and protection levels

Leo,

Your correct about the glasses misting being from a poor fit.

IWVC is using valved masks and when I used them, mine were rigid and uncomfortable besides hard to maintain a good seal.

I've used several types of mask, simple types and ffp3 but never found one that fitted closely or comfortably. Maybe I have an odd shaped head. 😀. I avoided valved masks as they do not protect others very well but now that most do not seem to care about others very much, and not wear masks to prevent infections, I feel justified in putting my own safety and comfort first. Sorry if that offends. My current favoured mask is semi rigid and has straps around the head rather than around my ears which I find both more effective and comforable. And lessens glasses misting 👍Ian C

Ian,

I’m using a new mask recently and it is really comfortable. It reminds me of a KN95 ear loop style but it’s a N95.

Its made by Drager

model X-plore 1750.

My glasses haven’t fogged yet 😷🤣

I use a 1 inch wide white rubber band around my head going below my ears, behind the skull and through the top of my nose. It is reasonably tight to pull the top of the mask close to the face. Another one such is attached to its left cheek to right cheek and below the chin. This is a homemade thing which I fabricated in 5 minutes. It totally seals off the Mask. No breathing around this.

I have found the hard, formed masks don't fit my face and cause glasses/goggle fogging. With a valve, or no valve. When I use the soft, foldable-type brands I don't have this problem.
