Do Lym and Neu go down with ibrutinib ?
Hi Elnazz,
With CLL, it's trends in the lymphocytes that are important. You posted 10 months ago that your father's WBC, which would have been mostly CLL cells, went from 370k to 600k. That initial increase often happens. For his lymphocyte count to have dropped to 22.6k since then, shows that ibrutinib has worked very well for him. His lymphocyte count should keep dropping the longer he stays on ibrutinib, until eventually his lymphocyte count may be normal again.
Neutrophils can drop while on ibrutinib. It's important for them to stay above 1.5k to reduce the risk of infection. A count of 3.4k is excellent.
Please ignore the percentage (%) figures. You only need them to work out the absolute counts we discussed above.

Thanks Neil, you just answered a question I had - I assumed that significant immunocompromise always happens with treatment, even Ibrutinib monotherapy, but it seems that is not always the case.
Thank you very much for your explanation. Yes, we were worried about the percentage of lym and Neu that did not go down.
This post gives example of how misleading tracking percentages can be. healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...
It's the absolute counts and their trends which are important.
